You know if I had something other than SR:TT and its shoddy mission packs to go off of (like a proper sequel to Guerilla, EtD, anything sandbox related really), I might've been willing to restore some of my trust in Volition (like with RDR restoring my faith in Rockstar+GTA V). But I don't so...**** 'em.

The things you've listed aren't decisions of the studio.

To clarify, EtD is being added to the next SR game, it is not becoming the next game. There is more to the next game than EtD.

And hopefully we are getting a good story like in SR2.  If SR4 is just a carbon copy Fart and D*** joke game like SR3 (which TBH, I felt was more geared to a 13-15 year old kid audience), there will be another $59.99 staying in my pocket. Oops make that $63.59, forgot about sales tax.

Ok, i'm going to rant here but.....

Ok i've been here since 2010, but they banned my account in Janury for speaking the truth. Saints Row 1 was a nearly perfect game, a somewhat serious story, yet some sillyniss to make it fun. One of my top 10. Then there was Saints Row 2. That game was better, by everything, and it had a balance between sillyness and seriousness(you could play how you wanted), not in my top 10, but still one of my favorites. Then SRTT came out. At first, it was a pretty fun game, new physics, better handling, and wayy better graphics. The story coulda been better, but its was about gameplay, which was a huge step down. They practiacally FORCED the sillyness on you(you have to fight a mexican wrestler gang, and brutes come when you fight long enough), and it was watered down for some bullshit DLC THAT WAS ON THE DISC, and the DLC missions were ****.  The first two games did DLC RIGHT, with a **** load of clothes, and some where even free. Then you guys announced ETD. That sorta got me interested because i wanted to see if you guys ACUTALLY improved your ****. But that was cancelled for the next game. **** this series now. Why DON'T you guys listen to your old fans? Why the **** you gotta cater to the kids that want purple dildos, and super powers? It's not ****ing funny at all, its like a ****ing Date Movie type of parody trying too hard. If you wanted to be funny, why not do satire? THAT'S why all the ****ing REAL fans left to the other site, you guys are a ****ing joke now. **** Volition, **** THQ, and **** all the new **** that wanted super powers, THIS ISN'T ****ING SPIDER MAN, IT IS A CRIME BASED GAME!!!

AND WHY THE **** IS ALL THE CURSE WORDS CENCORED IF WE ARE ALL 18 THATS BULLSHIT?

finally someone who gets it about friken time i solute you my good sir

I think he expects it to be an entire game plus the ETD, but that's not the case.

It isn't?

Doubtful, seeing as how it's going to be a part of SR4 that just means less work needs to be done to fill it out.

nope just a cheap filler to piss off fans you should already know though shouldnt you?

I agree with you totaly.

Can you imagine if EA told fans of Battlefield that they were going to but purple @#$*%'s and farts in a jar into the game. VOLITION YOU are becoming the laughing stock of the games market. Pull your socks up!

Again folks, let's stick to discussion about EtD, etc. here and not get derailed into attacks on anyone, or posts that do nothing but rant on the issue. Sharing the negative opions is fine, and we encourage it, but we can't do anything with a giant curse-filled rant. Put your opinions and thoughts into concise, thought-provoking posts that give Volition good solid feedback to work with. These posts also help to bring out further discussion on your issues and bring other users into the mix. If all you do is post a bunch of cursing at Volition and THQ, that does not bring forward any actual thoughts for the teams to use.

Thanks.

Edit: Sorry, DeadlyCyclone, I was typing this before you made your post. ;)

Apples to oranges, though, no? THe games you listed are absolutely 100% serious. They are not meant as parodies of "war" but simulations of war. SR is, and has always been, a parody. lol I don't think anyone is REALLY "pretending" to be a gang banger when playing SR or SR2 are they? lol

I think I see the problem here and it is actually an interesting one. Not that there is anything wrong with your opinions and desires, because there isn't. But I think that you and some others in ths forum are perhaps trying to fight Volition's paradigm and intent with the series by asking the developer to conform to a level of seriousness that they never wanted or meant for SR.

My belief is (and I really wish a developer would confirm or deny this) that Volition always had its eye on an over-the-top sandbox game but WAS NOT SURE that what they wanted to make would be successful or in any way accepted in an era where mocking violence is all right, but sexuality is a taboo.

So they sort of held back on the craziness to get their feet wet in the sandbox genre. I think what a lot of people are mssing is the very clear thread of evolution in this series from SR all the way through SR2 and SR3. The fact is that SR has "some humor" in it, but was mostly a gang-banging game. In many ways it was like a "next gen GTA III" with an interesting approach to side missions and customizing. No planes, no heli's, and very stripped down in that way. SR2 was a lot less about gang banging and more about a plethora of gameplay motifs, planes, helicopters, much greater customizing, AND the story and activities had a lot more humor in them. In short, it was a lot more "over-the-top" than SR. Now for whatever reason, even though in my opinion (and yes, this is only my opinion) Volition was still holding back, some SR fans felt that SR2 represented the epitope of balance between humor and seriousness as well as grounded, old-school sandbox gameplay versus over-the-top gameplay.

Now fast forward to SR3 and it CONTINUES the evolution, the progression, if you will, of over-the-top insanity where gameplay is mnore important to the game than the story.

In other words, it is my belief, and again I wish a dev would confirm or deny this, that SR3 was the game that the devs have always wanted to make from the beginning but were afraid to really go full throttle into. This is what has about a dozen people in this forum up in arms. Volition is making the series the way they have always wanted to, the way that I believe most of the fans of SR want them to as well, but they now have the sort support of the media and the majority of SR fans to know that they are moving in the right direction for us.
