Here is how to fix low FPS: 1. Download driver 12.2 2. Play the game After applying the 12.2 update I am pleased to say Saints Row 3 is running fine, I payed 60$ and have been unable to play until now. Now my dual 6990's finally work and the game looks good. If I turn all the settings off except resolution 1920x1080 the game runs smooth even driving with no FPS drop. We can all go back to playing our favorite game and taking turf for our homies on the streets of steelport. Im going to find the secret volition hideout! that is my goal if it takes years I will find it, I know its out there. I will go block by block door by door but I WILL FIND IT!!!!!! 10 days ago I posted that I had low FPS and they fixed it super fast! Volition is awesome thanks for the awesome support. Its great that a company finally listens their homies in the forums. 3 cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this in contrast to 12.1? The game is still running ok but crappy at times on my Radeon 7970 with the 12.2 drivers. Quad 6970's, however, completely outclasses my 7970, so it's possible that optimization is still terrible but you can just muscle through the problem. I told you that it was drivers in your case.

12.2 the new release at least I think seems to make use of crossfire, possibly, I dont know. I am sure they fixed something. I can now play at 1920x1080 with steady FPS on dx11. My cards are old dual 6990's I just bought them but the architecture is quite dated compared to whats out there now its a dinosaur. Are you still having problems? Im going to upgrade to dual 7990's once their out i bought these 6990's a couple weeks ago to play saints row. I posted on the forum about the problem and they fixed it in only 10 days!!! what resolution are you playing at etc? are you getting random hangs or just low fps? Did you install 12.2 witht he sr3 fix? Im glad volition was speedy with resonding to our needs, give it a shot, cant hurt. This is an exerpt from the patch notes you can read more here: www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-ati-radeon... Saints Row III no longer experiences random hangs.

This is not true. The game still runs like crap. I get 15 to 25 fps while driving just like with every other driver AMD has come up with.
My Specs: AMD Raedon HD 6870 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.40 GHz ASUS P5N-D 4GB Corsair DDR2

Well I hope it works for some of you at least. Grats. What I don't get is why the love for Volition over a driver release at AMD ? How does Volition have anything to do with it? Did they supply the fix for AMD? Just curioious. Or whatever that mangled spelled up word means.
Game System: Win 7 64 | 8GB RAM, Asus MB P8Z68-V PRO, CPU: Intel i7-2600K @4.6 Ghz o/c GPU: Nvidia GTX 580 no o/c, Drivers 295.73 Display: Dell U2410 1920x1200, Mouse: Logitech G5 CPU Cooler: Corsair H50.

If there was a fix, it had nothing to do with your posting nor Volition: Volition has known about many of these performance issues since release day and have done very little about them so far. Here are the official driver release notes from AMD for 12.2: support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDC...Note the lack of any Saints Row the Third enhancements. You possibly installed the 12.2 CAP along with the 12.2 drivers which enables Crossfire in SR3: without the CAP (as far back as CAP 11.12 I think), Crossfire does not work in SR3.

Philastic the link you posted only discusses the changes made by AMD in 12.2, it does NOT include what games are directly affected by those changes, if you went by that list then the answer would be none and its all a lie. Luckily our video cards are not made of cake, Id chip a tooth on them massive 6990's. Its tricky reading documentation to know what game engines are affected and how to trace the performance improvements without access to the raw data. For information on the Saints Row and other game Fixes Read here: www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-ati-radeon... "Saints Row III no longer experiences random hangs." Volition is awesome for staying on top of the issue with AMD. Someone at Volition is emailing AMD constantly about the problem, after all AMD got Volition to put their logo right at the start of the game before you even get tot he game, now that is some respect. If AMD doesnt live up to that kind of street cred and resolve the issue fast enough, Volition is going to send Oleg over to the AMD corporate office, and noone wants that.

Quotes from the OFFICIAL RELEASE NOTES for 12.2 (support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDC...): "
" I'm pretty sure AMD knows what they've fixed better than a 3rd party website that published their list on Feb. 1 when the final 12.2 drivers released on March 7. Note that there are no noted improvements for SR3. It's possible that they THOUGHT that they had fixed the issue in the preview drivers but that turned out not to be the case, so they're still working on it. Note that the 12.1 release drivers released Jan. 25 acknowledge that "Saints Row III may hang randomly during gameplay" in their "Known Issues" section. (support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDC...)
I'll give credit where credit is due: this is not one of those cases.

Well toms hardware has a solid reputation for analyzing drivers and other computer related issues in depth. I am going to trust them since well their right. I can confirm using my setup that the performance for my amd cards is improved.

You have dual 6990's (otherwise equivalent to quad 6970's): even if performance issues were still there, you'd just muscle through them much like my 7970 was a huge improvement over my 5850. In fact, your dual 6990's is still about 100% faster than my single 7970. As far as I can tell, you've got Crossfire finally working probably because you installed the newest Catalyst Application Profile (CAP) OR AMD has addressed issues with dual-GPU's in Crossfire because the issues with Crossfire not working were fixed about 2 weeks after the game came out. Most people are complaining about framerate problems when they drive fast or generally just look around in the game world. I'm glad that your particular issue has disappeared with a driver update but I'm fairly confident that you just didn't have the CAP installed, thus Crossfire was not working, especially since I keep asking whether or not you had the CAP installed to determine if it was the main drivers or the CAP fixing your problem but you haven't answered that yet.
