Hi. Is there anyway to get a PC joystick to work in SR3?

I can't figure out how to remap fly up/fly down and turn right/turn left to the joysticks Axis.

Is there anyway to do this?

Running win7 64bit with a Thrustmaster T.16000M joystick.

Thanks!

It's strange that this hasn't been included since flying is a big part of the game. There has to be some sort of work around.

Hello,

Please give us a simple disable gamepad option.

For those  of us who use our own non xbox controllers the game is auto detecting the usb device and overriding custom

key mapping software. I've been able to disable xbox controller options in other games with this problem but I see no

ini file to do this. Currently unplayable with a usb device mapped outside the game.

thanks

The only controller officially supported on PC is the Xbox 360 controller.

One thing that has been shown to work though for certain other joysticks / controllers that are configured differently is to use a keymapping software such as Joy2Key, which will allow you to assign the various inputs as direct keyboard inputs, so your game thinks you're pressing keys on your keyboard, but you're really using your joystick.

I know this isn't a perfect solution, but it has been shown to work.

V-Singular, thanks for your suggestion.

I just tried joy2key but I think the problem, as 19sixty pointed out, is that as soon as you touch the joystick, the game overrides your keys and maps everything to a game controller.

joy2key may work if Volition gave an option to completely disable the gamepad.

I recogmend x360ce as it is a DLL file that emulates the xinput liberary (Liberary for communicating with the xbox controller), and allows you to map any joystick key/gamepad/whatever to it :)

code.google.com/p/x360ce/

Quick edit: I have used this on several games including SRTT. It allowed me to use my cyborg rumble controller with saints row.

Was that quote there for me? In that case why? I do in fact read the thread before posting.

Also, Joy2Key is just an key mapper, and x360ce is an rewritten dll. This means you will be able to play all games that support the xbox controller with one configuration, and joystick axis mapping. Please do your homework before posting.

This worked for me! Thank you :)

They have actually brought out a new application for this which even does the key assignments and how to handle the axises for you! It is called XBOX 360 Controller Emulator . Run the .exe file in your game's home directory. It usually grabs your configuration from the net. I needed to tweak mine a bit but it is now working. You only need to do this once for all games if you back up the .exe and it's .ini file.

It might not be supported by Volition (which means don't run to them if you have a problem. I don't blame them for taking that stance either , It's bloody hard to do that!) but it seems to work. I've been testing this for 12 hours now and it also works on various other games in a similar fashion. If you find it works for other games , tell the community so the developer can expand it.
