Ok I finished this game playing Co-op with my brother last night. He's done with it and moving on to batman and what not. I on the other hand wish to play around in the city and get more achievements. I load up my save game, 76% of the game finished, and to my surpise I'm back on the free falling mission. This is not the glitch, I understand it was his campaign that I was playing. So I load it up and thought to myself, all I need to do is finish this quest and then the penthouse, then I can just play around from there.
Well one problem, the plane window is made of bulletproof glass. I've died about 25 times now and the glass just wont give in. I've shot right at it, above it, below it, at the side, the other side, I've tried not shooting, I've tried not focusing the guns when I shot, I've reloaded a little bit earlier saves, I've loaded my autosave, I've loaded my non-autosave. I've restarted the mission from the start, I've restarted the game, I've tried DX11, I've tried DX9..... all in all, I've tried everything. Only thing I have not done is started a new character, because I don't want it to save over my auto-save.
I've looked up some other peoples videos of the same mission. I'm doing the samething, sometimes I'm even hitting right on the window, while some of them are much below it. Only thing I can think is doing this is my fire ammo. I've fully upgraded the SMG to have fire ammo, and in this mission my guns do. I'm thinking it might have a effect on the glass, since every other video that works doesn't have fire ammo. Only thing I can think of doing at this point is waiting for a friend to get online and have him do the mission with me, so I can see if it will break for him. EDIT FIXED WITH MODS ---
Give this a try. Drop it in your sr3 folder and when the plane comes, don't shoot at the window; just let it hit you. The game is very picky about what is changed in the file, so i did the minimum possible: changed a == to a ~= so it kills you if and only if you DO shoot out the window. The mission plays exactly the same, otherwise.
I would like to thank Corrodias for doing way more then he needed to help fix this. PS I have no idea why his name is like that.

Your theory sounds plausible. If you're concerned about the autosave, can you load your game, then open the main menu and save in a new slot? It doesn't save progress through your current mission, but you're at the beginning of the mission anyway, and i THINK it should let you save.

I've been experiencing the same problem, and have tried having a co-op partner with me, but it didn't help. It'd be great if this could be addressed in a patch, but if anyone has a quick fix I'd gladly settle for that instead.

Bump, We tried the mod and it didn't work. I also made my brother load up one of his very first saves when he didn't have fire ammo, still didn't work. I'm lost as of now :(

Hmm, despite the mod turning off the incendiary effect, there may still be something special about them. I hope a save editor that can toggle upgrades is released soon... or a game patch, of course. Have you thought about HOSTING a co-op game? Would that help you get through that part of the mission with a guest player who CAN break the window? I don't know how that mission plays when it's co-op.

Yeah I hosted when my brother tried without fire bullets. He still couldn't break it.
