Online codes, system link etc - 360

OK so I've been reading about having to use the online pass to access system link, now I'm going to overlook the fact that the pass totally goes against everything that system link is about and hope that someone might be able to shed some light on my query.

I have two 360's setup for system link, neither have access to Live. However if I was to purchase 2 copies of SR3 with online passes, go on Live using a silver account and redeem the codes on my two gamertags would I then need to be online to play LAN system link in the future?

Or would I be able to return the 360's to offline and carrying on playing once I've been online and redeemed the codes?

I don't really see why I should need to relocate my setup to play what is essentially an offline game on a LAN.

Any help on this matter would be most appreciated

Ah man, this is some of the worst news I've heard yet.

With any luck it should be like the rest of xbox live dlc, available to everyone on the system it was originally downloaded on, online or offline.

I'm really surprised this is being so overlooked in these forums. This is a huge problem for those who don't have Xbox Live or online access period.

Since the code is more than likely to be connected to the system it was redeemed on, I'm hoping it can just be redeemed once online and stay redeemed while in offline mode from then on. My Co-op partner has no internet access whatsoever.

Xbox 360 licensing follows these 'rules':

Console downloaded to ('licensed' console)

- any profile can use the content

- connection to Xbox LIVE not required

Content on an 'Unlicensed' console

- any profile can use the content as long as the licensed profile (profile that purchased/redeem code) is signed in to Xbox LIVE on that console

- connection to Xbox LIVE required

While that is 100% true. I am relatively certain that online pass type licenses register only to the profile that enters them. I have never tested it so I might be wrong (crosses fingers)

i tried recovering my profile on my old xbox but that doesnt work either. I also redownloaded the online pass on that xbox but as soon as i log out. it asks for the online pass... this is retarded and very frustrating.
