To me that depends on your definition of smart in regards to your style of game-play.
Case in point: If your style of game-play is more focused on causing all sorts of destruction and mayhem, then you would choose to spare him and get the fists.
Alternatively, if your someone like me who is more interested in the story and its depth you would un-mask him and shame him.

Assuming I didnt just cheat the apocafist (or some other big weapon) into my inventory mid fight and turn him into paste, unmask.

I like causing destruction, but I also like the story. *Conflicting moment* xP Can we unmask him when we replay the mission or something?

I just wanted to mention that, according to this preview, you can also buy the apoca fists for $100,000. www.mcmbuzz.com/2011/09/05/prepare-for-m..."Unfortunately though, not all weapons are upgradable which is a shame as I was hoping to put spikes or something on my dildo bat, and also, at $100,000 the Apoca-fists are a bit pricey!" Either way, I would still spare him cause I could get the fists faster.
