Just got signed back into the new forums, and I'm not sure if it's the new forums or a problem with the servers, but the response time's I'm seeing are 10 to 30 seconds just to display a forums list or a post, and 5 to 15 seconds to make a post. Can you have the servers checked to see what's going on? I'm not having any problems on any other sites, just this one.

You are not the only one. It's been like this since the new forum started.
V-Singular said that the site is running at the same speed as the old forum. .

No way. I read a lot of the Stillwater stories, and there's no way I would have kept reading if it were as slow as it is now. I'll do a traceroute and post the results. It's definitely on the server side.

The forums have been running slow as of late. They were moved to new servers which were supposedly faster and since then there's been a major detraction in member activity. There's no reason the servers should be this slow. Please explain?

My page load times are very slow in comparison to the old site...
There have been several times I've skipped sites because of load rage after waiting what has seemed like aons...
As above when I switch sites I get good load times even with You Tube vids or TV streaming...
I think V said there was still maintenance work going on which is why they are still slow...

Maybe it has something to do with the programs or applications in the background, like Java, flash or whatever. Yeah I'm no IT genius or web developer.

Background applications would imply it's a client side problem, but it's a server side issue. I was seeing partial page loads last night. It seems to have problems when pulling up the main forums listing fairly consistently as well as when posting new posts. Those are the most consistent problems I'm seeing. They might not have optimized their database properly. Shouldn't take a whole heck of a lot to run this forum.

Thanks for the feedback all. I'll bring this up with the team again and see if we can find a better solution. Also, there's no major Java or Flash running in this forum anymore (except for YouTube video linking). The previous forum had it with the menu on the left side nav bar though.
I do agree that it's been slow, but I do have to trust the numbers to a point.

It was far slower last night V-Singular, roughly between 3 to 6 AM Central time (very rough estimate). Is it running on app or DB server where they are running nightly batch/backup processes? If so, they may be negatively affecting the servers and impacting load times for forum visitors.
