Hello everyone,
I would like to address a few key issues that players are noticing within the recently released Saints Row 2. They have become large topics within our forum and other communities, and everyone deserves to know the process which is occurring in the background. Currently, there are three main issues being reported:
1. Co-Op Achievement / Check Box Progression Status (360)
2. 360 / PS3 Game Freezes
3. 360 / PS3 Online Connectivity
Iâm going to try to explain the best that I can about these issues and what weâre doing to correct them, as well as how you can help.
Co-Op Achievement StatusEssentially, the "Co-op Complete" checkbox displayed for missions completed in a co-op game (found within the Bulletin Board in your crib) does not always accurately display if the mission has been completed with a co-op partner. This can prevent players from earning co-op specific achievements.
Through the help of players in our forums detailing their progress and showing indisputable proof that a bug existed, weâve been able to reproduce the bug and are working on a solution towards fixing this in a future patch.
What has been found through additional testing is that if you have all of the checkmarks in your bulletin board, you should host a co-op game. Have a friend join your game, and replay the final mission in the storyline. This does not work 100% of the time, but it has been shown to work for more than a few individuals who were stuck on this phase, until a patch is released.
360 / PS3 Game FreezesA small percentage of players have reported hard locks on their console while playing Saints Row 2. At this time, we are taking each report seriously as they are posted within our forum.
One solution that has helped many is clearing out your hard driveâs cache. Instructions for the 360 can be found here (
community.saintsrow.com/viewtopic.php?f=...), but the PS3 does not have this option to my knowledge.
We have also determined that a discolored disc is not the cause of these freezing problems. Initially, we believed there may have been a problem with the manufacturing process, but that is not the case. You can see the results of that here (
community.saintsrow.com/viewtopic.php?f=...).
Remember that there are many reasons why your game may freeze. As stated above, each report is being taken seriously. Once more information is known, it will be posted within the community site.
360 / PS3 Online ConnectivityThere are also reports of players complaining of not being able to connect to online games within Saints Row 2. More often than not, especially for PS3 owners, this is due to incompatibility between the NAT status of each console. If a player with a closed NAT attempts to connect to an open NAT console, the connection will be refused. This is when players will normally see âThe host has left the gameâ message.
As a way to correct this, you need to access the router you are using to give online capabilities to your console, and set your console to be the DMZ host. Please refer to your routerâs instruction manual on how to do this, there was way too many combinations for us to list here. That is not a cure-all though, since there are just some inconsistencies with online play in general.
If you do not wish to make your console the DMZ host, another solution which has worked for many is opening up port 4200 for their console. Again, please refer to your routerâs instruction manual on how to accomplish this.
Along with that, some players have stated that when they go to connect to MP, they just see a black box on the right side where their name should be. Do not be alarmed, that is just the system pairing everyone up. Sometimes it will attach you in instantly, other times it can take up to 20 seconds. Your name will eventually show up in the list though and youâll be able to play.
Weâve also had users asking how to play specific game modes or variants outside of Ranked Quick Match. If you head to the following topic, you can find out more information (
community.saintsrow.com/viewtopic.php?f=...).
Once new information is available on any of these topics, it will be presented here on the community site and in the forums. Thank you for reading this and we hope all of you continue to enjoy Saints Row 2.
