Gamespy posted this:

Effective January 1st, 2013, GameSpy has ceased to make its software available for Licensing.

Effective May 31, 2014, GameSpy will cease providing all hosted services for all games still using GameSpy.
If you have any questions about how this impacts your favorite title please contact the game’s publisher for more information.

Thanks for a great ride!

We haven't actually announced anything yet either way. The good news is that you should still be able to use the LAN option for SR2 coop with apps like Hamachi or Tunngle to connect to your friend.

Thanks for the quick reply, makes sense you don't upgrade old games anymore. Still sucks but at least there are other ways.

It's pretty unlikely that we will be patching our older games like SR2 that use Gamespy, but we haven't actually announced anything yet either way. The good news is that you should still be able to use the LAN option for SR2 coop with apps like Hamachi or Tunngle to connect to your friend.

I recall SR2 not liking Hamachi. Not sure about Tunngle, but as far as I remember, Hamachi just isn't compatible with SR2.

The problem with Hamachi that you're remembering is a bit different. SR2 PC has a problem with trying to use the first (top) listed network adapter when trying to connect. So, if the Hamachi virtual adapter is installed and that adapter is listed at the top then it will automatically try to use it through Gamespy, and naturally fail. But, if you install Hamachi and actually connect via Hamachi to your partner using the LAN option in the in-game menu then it works perfectly.
